Turkey Brie and Caramelized Pear Sandwich (Gourmet Café Style)
This turkey brie and caramelized pear sandwich combines warm roasted turkey, melty brie cheese, and golden caramelized pears on toasted artisan bread for a sweet and savory gourmet sandwich. Finished with a touch of Dijon and optional arugula, this easy café-style sandwich is perfect for lunch, brunch, or a quick elevated meal at home.
Melt 1 teaspoon butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced pears in a single layer and cook for 2 minutes. Flip and cook 1 minute more until lightly golden. Sprinkle with a tiny pinch of salt and remove from the pan while still slightly firm.
Step 2: Warm the Turkey
Place the sliced turkey into the warm skillet and heat for 20–30 seconds until just warmed. Do not brown.
Step 3: Assemble the Sandwich
Spread Dijon mustard lightly on one slice of bread. Layer brie cheese, warm turkey, caramelized pears, and arugula. Drizzle with honey if using. Top with remaining slice of bread.
Step 4: Toast the Sandwich
Spread remaining butter on the outside of the bread. Cook sandwich over medium-low heat for 3 minutes per side until bread is golden and brie is melted. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
Use Bosc or Anjou pears for the best caramelized pear texture. They soften without becoming mushy and hold their shape in the sandwich.
Slice the brie cheese thinly so it melts evenly and creates a creamy layer throughout the turkey sandwich. The rind is edible and adds flavor, but you can remove it for a smoother melt.
Warm the roasted turkey briefly before assembling so the brie melts faster and the sandwich heats evenly. Cold turkey can prevent proper melting.
Cook the sandwich over medium-low heat. This allows the bread to turn golden while the brie melts without separating or becoming oily.
Add a small handful of arugula for a peppery contrast that balances the sweet caramelized pears and rich brie cheese.
A light smear of Dijon mustard adds acidity and prevents the sandwich from tasting too sweet.
If your pears are not very ripe, add a tiny drizzle of honey after assembling to enhance the sweet-savory balance.
This turkey brie and pear sandwich works best with artisan bread like sourdough, ciabatta, or rustic country bread for structure and crisp texture.
