  • Add the eggnog, chilled espresso, vanilla extract, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, and crushed ice to a blender.
  • Add the vanilla ice cream last.

  • Pour immediately into chilled serving glasses.

  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Fully chilled espresso is important for keeping this eggnog espresso milkshake thick, creamy, and frosty instead of thin and melted.
  • Full-fat eggnog creates the richest texture and best holiday flavor. Lower-fat eggnog can make the milkshake less creamy.
  • Eggnog is already sweetened and spiced, so additional sugar is usually unnecessary in this recipe.
  • Using premium vanilla ice cream gives the milkshake a smoother and creamier café-style texture.
  • Freshly grated nutmeg provides a fresher and more authentic holiday flavor than pre-ground nutmeg.
  • Only a small amount of ice is used to maintain thick milkshake consistency without watering down the espresso flavor.
  • For a stronger coffee flavor, add 1 teaspoon espresso powder instead of an extra espresso shot to avoid thinning the milkshake.
  • Chilling the serving glasses in the freezer for 10–15 minutes helps the milkshake stay cold and thick longer.
  • This holiday espresso milkshake is best served immediately after blending for the smoothest texture and strongest coffee flavor.
  • You can easily turn this festive eggnog milkshake into an adult holiday dessert by adding bourbon, dark rum, or coffee liqueur.
