Ingredients

Butter Chicken

  • 1 lb boneless chicken breast or thighs cubed
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp chili powder adjust to taste
  • Salt to taste

Butter Chicken Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 cup tomato puree or crushed tomatoes
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp sugar optional, to balance acidity
  • Salt to taste

Pizza

  • 1 large pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 1½–2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup butter chicken sauce for the base
  • Cooked butter chicken from above
  • Optional toppings: red onion slices fresh cilantro, drizzle of cream

Instructions

Make the Butter Chicken

  • Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add chicken, garam masala, paprika, turmeric, cumin, chili powder, and salt.
  • Cook until chicken is fully cooked and lightly golden, about 6–8 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Make the Sauce

  • In the same pan, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Add garlic and ginger; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in tomato puree and simmer for 5–7 minutes.
  • Add heavy cream and sugar (if using). Simmer until thick and smooth.
  • Return chicken to the sauce and stir to coat evenly. Remove from heat.

Assemble the Pizza

  • Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C).
  • Roll or stretch pizza dough onto a pizza pan or stone.
  • Spread ½ cup butter chicken sauce evenly over the dough.
  • Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  • Top with butter chicken pieces and optional red onion.

Bake

  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and garnish with fresh cilantro and a drizzle of cream if desired.

Notes

  • Mild by default: Butter chicken is traditionally mild; add chili powder, chili oil, or crushed red pepper if you prefer more heat.
  • Sauce consistency: The butter chicken sauce should be thick enough to spread—simmer a little longer if it’s too thin.
  • Cheese balance: Mozzarella keeps the flavors balanced; avoid overly sharp cheeses that may overpower the sauce.
